Client Assessment and Programming

Material Overview

Assessment is the part most people rush, so the material slows it down: health screening, fitness testing, movement analysis, listening to a goal properly and writing down what you found. From there it covers exercise selection, progression, recovery planning and reviewing results honestly. You will read how to build a plan around one individual rather than a template, adjust it when life interferes, record progress clearly, and keep somebody engaged long after the early enthusiasm fades.

Level · Beginner
Purpose

What you learn in the first half hour decides most of what follows. This level covers the intake: the questions worth asking, the answers that change your plan, and the baseline you record before anything starts.

Outcome

Having worked through it, you can run a first conversation that produces usable information, record a baseline you can compare against in three months, and hear what somebody actually wants rather than what they first say.

What You'll Learn

  • A structured intake conversation, health history and medication questions, listening for the goal behind the stated goal, simple baseline measures, photographs and measurements taken consistently, and writing notes somebody else could read
Credits 228 CREDITS
Level · Intermediate
Purpose

An assessment is only worth doing if a plan comes out of it. This level connects the two, turning what you observed into exercise choices, starting loads and rules for what happens next week.

Outcome

The measurable change is a plan that visibly answers the assessment, starting weights nobody has to guess at, and progression rules written down before week one rather than invented during week three.

What You'll Learn

  • A repeatable movement screen, matching each finding to an exercise choice, setting starting loads without a maximum test, written progression rules, planning the first four weeks, and deciding in advance what you will reassess
Credits 498 CREDITS
Level · Advanced
Purpose

Plans meet reality and reality wins. This level is about revision: what to change when somebody misses a fortnight, sleeps badly for a month, gets a new job, or simply stops responding to work that used to help.

Outcome

Around this point you can revise a plan without rewriting it, tell an honest plateau from six missed workouts, and show a client evidence of progress on the days they are convinced there has been none.

What You'll Learn

  • Reassessment timing and what to retest, adjusting a plan for a disrupted month, distinguishing a plateau from poor adherence, tracking the few numbers that matter, returning after a layoff, and reviewing your own results honestly
Credits 701 CREDITS
Level · Expert
Purpose

Complicated cases are the ones that test a professional. This level covers clients with several competing issues at once, the documentation that protects everybody, and the judgement to hand a case on.

Outcome

Its conclusion is that you can prioritise sensibly when everything seems urgent, keep records that would survive a complaint, refer without hesitating, and look at your own results across a year without flattering yourself.

What You'll Learn

  • Prioritising when somebody has three competing problems, working with a physiotherapist or doctor, documentation that stands up to scrutiny, recognising cases outside your scope, auditing your own outcomes across clients, and learning from the failures
